The Septembers of ShirazThe Septembers of Shiraz by Dalia Sofer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Excellent debut book by an author who I think we'll be seeing more of in the future. This is the poignant tale of a Jewish Iranian family in the post-Islamic Revolution in Iran that is heavy and sad. And yet, there is a hopefulness that shines out in the midst of the senseless treatment by the Revolutionary Guards and the proxies of the so-called Islamic Revolution (so many thieves, rogues, and vengeful people who "win" and oust the Shah, only to follow in his footsteps by inflicting worse injustices on the Iranian people). Can't wait to watch the movie they've now made, starring Adrien Brody--have heard good things about it.
